Warriors take win on the road against Drayton Valley 5 - 4. Warriors have taken the 2 game matchup against Drayton Valley the top team in the league 2 - 0 (one home and away win). The Warriors won't face Drayton Valley again until possibly the playoffs. The Warriors are now on a 3 game winning streak that has rejuvenated the team. The Warriors trailed Drayton Valley after the 1st period 3 - 2 and then the match was tied 4 - 4 after the 2nd and the game winning goal was scored at 18:47 of the third by Evan Kuhar with an assist from Clayton Herzog. The Warriors were able to hold off the Wildcats to take the win. The game was pretty much back and forth match and for the most part a penalty free game. Warriors only took 3 minor penalties while the Wildcats had 7 that including a check to the head on Zac Schram that broke his nose. Only a minor penalty was called that came with a 10 minute misconduct. "We scored a couple of goals early to take the lead 2 - 0, but then we got a little puck focused and it cost us a couple of goals, said Coach Kuhar. We again played our system and everyone played a good hard game. It is a huge win for us and we are on a streak that we hope to keep going into the Christmas break. We have now pretty much seen all the teams and getting to know how they play and we are adjusting to that well for a new young team. Taking 2 games from the top team in the league is huge as this gives the Wildcats their only third loss of the season." The Warriors record is now 6 - 5 - 0 with 12 points and tied for 1st in the North Division with Devon and Morinville.
The Warriors play Whitecourt next Friday night December 13 in Mayerthorpe before going into the Christmas break. Their next game after Christmas in a home game on Friday January 3/14 where Whitecourt will be in town.
