Westlock takes win over Athabasca Aces last night 5 - 4. Westlock had a tough time finding their legs to start the game last night, but come out with a big win and take the 2 games series against the Aces 2 game to none. The first period saw the score tied at 1 - 1. The second period resulted in the same with each team putting 2 goals on the board ending the second period 3 - 3. Athabasca put a goal behind the tie at 12:48 of the 3rd period and then the Warriors answered back with one at 7:34 and then with 1:47 to go in the period the Warriors put the go ahead goal in the net which proved to be the eventual winner. The game was a chippy affair and not a lot of calls were being made and this resulted in Athabasca being frustrated enough to create a stir at the end of the game. It could of got out of hand, fortunately we were able to contain our guys and the result was no injuries or suspensions. "With only 4 games including tonight, it was really important that we came away with a win to ensure that we keep our standings, said Coach Kuhar. The win gives us a little comfort that we should make the playoffs and keep our current standing. Tonights game was a little slow start for us out of the gates, but we recovered and with playing our game and putting pressure on them it was just a matter of time for us to find the back of the net. Big in net for us tonight was Marcus who kept the Aces at bay."
The Warriors next home game is at home next Saturday night Jan. 18/14 against the Rocky Rams.
