The Warriors take win over Rocky Rams last night 11 - 5 to clinch a playoff position.
The score was 4 - 2 after the first, then 9 - 3 after the second period and then after the third 11 - 5. It was a bit of a lopsided affair, however the Warriors needed this type of result to give them a lift into the last two games of the season and into the playoffs. Ricky Wong had a big night for the Warriors with 4 goals and also a big result from Dave Carr with 6 assists. The other line mate Levis Monfette showed only 1 goal and 1 assist for all his work, but was huge in his play making and being strong on the puck. This line really showed their stuff last night. Also with 4 point night was: Alex Belzevick, Mike Podruzny and Evan Kuhar. Also with a strong 3 point night was was Tanner Sohn and Zac Schram. With the game being up 9 - 3 Mike Towle was put in net for the last period and got his first taste of playing action this year. "This is what we are all about, a lot of offense and depth on the offence, said Coach Kuhar. We needed things to break out tonight to give the guys some confidence and lift for the last 2 games of the season and into the playoffs. This type of game could get ulgy being a one sided affair, however we came out without an incident or any suspensions. With a game like this it also allowed us to give Mike Towle some playing time for the first time this season. We wanted to involve everyone. We had a contribution from everyone last night. It was a huge lift for the guys. This now solidifies us in having a playoff spot, now it is a matter of 3rd or 4th. It was our original goal to make the playoffs this year and we have done that. I just see our team getting stronger as we go into the playoffs."
Our last home game is next Saturday January 25, 2014 as we host the 2nd place Devon Barons. Then the last game of the season is on the road Sunday against the Slave Lake Ice Wolves.
