Warriors win at home against the Morinville Kings last night 4 - 3 to take upset win in the 1st round of NCHL playoff action in a Best of 3 game series 2 games to none.
It was a big win for the Warriors who had their eyes on at least making the playoffs to say that it was a successful first year. "It was a hard fought match for sure and the games were fast pace and great action both ways, said Coach Kuhar. Our team had a lot of confidence after winning the first game in Morinville so we just had to play a full 60 minutes. Our goaltender, Marcus Johnson also played very well for us and was a big part of the win. It was definitely a team effort and this is what we have been trying to instill in the team and what it is going to take to advance in the playoffs and we did that last night. We now go up against a tough Devon team, who were also the overall first place team in the NCHL this year. We believe we have a good idea of what we have to do and we just have to execute like we did against Morinville. We believe the next round of playoffs being a best of 5 game series will be to our advantage as we have a lot of depth and are a young team with a lot of energy. This match up in our view is like playing the Championship match up. Its going to be another round of exciting hockey. We want to thank the fan support in last nights game it was awesome and great to see the turn out and we look forward to the continued support through the playoff run."
