The Westlock Warriors are the NCHL League Champions. The Warriors won the crown last night in front of a jammed packed Rotary Spirit Centre crowd. It was a nail biter for sure. The Warriors trailed most of the game 1 - 0 and then finally with 33 seconds into the 3rd period the Warriors scored to tie it at 1 -1, but only to Devon to answer back a minute and 8 seconds later to go up 2 - 1. It went that way until with 14 seconds left in the game the Warriors scored to tie the game and go into overtime. It took until the 16 minute mark of the 1st overtime period when the Warriors were able to put the puck in the net. That win gave the Warriors a 3 game to 0 series win against Devon and crowned the NCHL League Champions. It was a text book finish and exciting for everyone to watch. The Warriors were presented with the NCHL League trophy and the Warriors goaltender Chris Kuhar was named the Playoff MVP.
It is well deserving and rewarding for a team that have played so well all year. I hope that we have re-kindled the Senior Hockey spirit back in Westlock. On behalf of the Westlock Senior Hockey Club we want to thank all of our Sponsors who have made this possible for the Warriors. I also want to thank all of our fans and community for their support and for all the Volunteers that have helped out throughout the year. Without you this could not have been done.
The Warriors now head off to Provincials in Camrose March 27 -29/15 and we hope to again bring back to Westlock another banner. We will serve the NCHL League and the community well. This will end a successful season, but while the season is over, we will be working on securing our sponsorship for next season and we extend to the business community or anyone that wishes to be a part of the Westlock Warriors NCHL Champions to please contact myself in doing some type of sponsorship with the team for the upcoming season.
Once again, Thank you from the Westlock Warriors!!!!
