Warriors win consecutive wins at home against the leading South Division Drayton Valley Wildcats by a score of 6 - 2. The game was a hard fought battle that saw #12 Zac Michalko go down midway through the first period with a broken arm. The check was a clean hit. This was a reflection of how tough the Wildcats are this season. This defeat posted their first loss of the season to put their record at 3-1-0. While for the Warriors on the other hand puts them with a record of 2-1-0 and now in a 3 way tie for first with Devon and Morinville.
The Warriors play tonight in Devon at 8:00 pm game time for an opportunity to pull ahead of Devon in the North Division race.
"This weekend is big for us playing against the top two teams in each division, said Coach Kuhar. The win against Drayton Valley was huge for the team and really tells us where we sit in comparison to the rest of the teams in the league. Really all we want to do is compete every night and give what we can with an expectation to make the playoffs. Anything more than that will be a bonus. The team has a great chemistry right now and the guys are having fun. It was really unfortunate last night to have our #12 Zac Michalko go down with a broken arm. Zac is a real positive guy on the team and great in the dressing room. We will definitely miss him and wish him well in his recovery and the whole team extends their best wishes to him in a speedy recovery. No rest as we go to battle tonight against Devon tonight and we expect nothing different than the game with Drayton Valley. Although we won the preseason game 4 - 2 against Devon, they did have 2 or 3 of their top players out of the line up, so it will be a tough game."
